Community Learning Course: Fundamentals of Cultural Justice

From August through December 2019, JustCulture, LLC plans to offer a partly non-traditional “community learning course” in Montgomery, AL, called The Fundamentals of Cultural Justice (with particular reference to race). The facilitator will be Dr. Gregory Meyjes.

The goal of the course is to enable participants to develop a good grasp of the key concepts, issues, and socio-psychological dynamics of cultural justice — the better to empower them for constructive social, interpersonal, and community action and organization. The focus will be on understanding the challenges and developing some of the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to strengthen cultural justice rather than to directly fight injustice — as reflected in the June 9th presentation on race unity in Montgomery.

Though the meetings will be held on Sunday afternoon a month for five consecutive months, there will be projects between these sessions and participants may wish to meet and collaborate between the course meetings. The structure is a blend of non-traditional and traditional learning and the curriculum will be in part participatory.

Participants will be limited to 25 in number (with waiting list), the location is to be determined, the introductory cost is $200 per participant for all sessions and inter-session work combined, and the planned meeting dates are from 3:00 pm to 5:00-5:30 pm, on Sunday 08/11, 09/08, 10/06, 11/03, and 12/07, 2019, and once the sequence has started, no additional participants will be able to join. For further questions or to express interest, please contact Greg Meyjes at meyjes@justcultureconsulting.com.

Be well!
